WHAT YOU VISIT
Ephesus - From Kusadasi, you
travel to House of Virgin Mary
located in Bulbul Mountain
passing the St. John's Basilica,
the Byzantine fortress at
Selcuk and the ruins of the
Temple of Artemis. After the visit
head for the upper gate of Ephesus
for the touring of this ancient city and the
Terrace Houses. Following the lunch
break, depart for The Basilica of St. John
and The Ephesus Museum. By the
end of touring, return to Kusadasi.
Basilica of St. John Built by
the Emperor Justinian over the tomb of St. John the Apostle, the
Basilica, now in ruins, once rivaled St. Sophia in size. One can
still see graceful columns, mosaics and frescoes.
Ephesus Museum This small museum
in Selcuk boasts an incredible
collection of Hellenistic and Roman
statues, carved relief's and artifacts unearthed from the ruins of
Ephesus.
House of Virgin Mary The Vatican has recognized this small house in
the Solmissos Mountains as the
final resting place of the Virgin Mary.
A small shrine dedicated to St. Mary was found when the ruins of the
house were first discovered.
The Terrace Houses Ephesus Ephesus
Terrace Houses are located on the slopes of Bulbul Mountain,
opposite the Hadrian Temple.
Also called as "the houses of rich",
these houses were for the important and wealthy people of
Ephesus, as only rich people could
afford such houses.
(includes the licensed tour guide, entrance fees, A/C
transportation, traditional lunch).
